First prizewinner of the International Conducting Competition Black sea 2012 (RU).Currently Conductor of Youth Orchestra Arabesque (CH) and the Sinfonietta Mosaique (CH).Studied violin, viola ,composition and conducting in Detmold, Geneva, Bern, Luzern and Milano. He studied conducting at the Hochschule der Kunst Luzern with R. Weikert and at the Conservatorio G. Verdi with V.Parisi. Since 2011, he has been accepted to study at the prestigious Academia Chigiana with Maestro G. Gelmetti. He attended International Masterclasses by J. Panula, L. Grin,M. Yurowski, G. Albrecht. Georgios has been selected to participate as an active Student in the prestigious Jarvi Conducting Academy 2014(Pärnu) and in Menuhin Festival Conducting Academy in Gstaad with N.Jarvi, L.Grin,G.Roshdetnevsky. During his studies, he has been awarded by various foundations (Lyra Foundation, Hirschmann Foundation, Onassis Foundation, etc.). At the age of 19 he has been the youngest member of the Symphony orchestra Basel.In 1999 he won the first prize of the National String Competition of the Greek Cultural Minister. One year later he received from the same organization (category Composition) a first prize for his String Trio (1999). As a chamber musician he played in Prag Spring Festival 2010, the Dresdner Festspiel, Moritzburg, as well as in various other important festivals in Europe. Since 2010, he is Conductor of J.S.O Arabesque (CH), Guest conductor at the National Opera O. Danovsky (2013-14). He conducted the Luzerner Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Philharmonic, the orchestra of the HKB (High school Bern), the Sofia Festival Philharmonic, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, Orchestra il Pomeriggi di Milano among others. In 2013- 2014, he was invited to collaborate with various orchestras like the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, the Athens Symphony Orchestra, the Danube Symphony Orchestra or the National Opera O.Danovsky (RU)
He began at the age of 6 to play the violin. His viola studies began 5 years later in the class of R. Smagoulov at the Ionio Conservatory in Greece. From 2001 to 2003 he studied viola and composition at the Hochshule für Musik in Detmold. Next he placed his studies with Nobuko Imai at the Genève Conservatoire where he also attended composition class with M.Jarrell, and chamber music lessons with Gabor Takaks-Nagy. In 2007 he received his Konzert Diplom “with Excellence”. In Juni 2009 he finished studying with U.Eichenauer, G.Karni at the Hochschule der Künste Bern with a Solistendiplom and Pedagogic Diplom(2012). In 2007 he began studying conducting with D. Roggen at the HKB and in 2012 he finished his studys in Orchestral Conducting at the Hochschule der Künste Luzern with R. Weikert and at the moment he is continues study in Concervatorio G.Verdi (Milano) with V.Parisi. Since 2011 he has been accepted to study in the prestigious Accademia Chiggiana as active Student with Maestro G.Gelmetti. He has been invited to participate in International conducting masterclasses with J.Panula in Amsterdam 2010 and with M.Jurowski Berlin 2010, G.Gelmetti since 2011 (Academia Chiggiana),G. Albrecht (Berliner Camerata ) ,LShambadal ( Europan Conducting Academy ) . In 2014 has been selected to participate as an active Student to prestigious Jarvi Conducting Academy 2014 and in Menuhins Festival Conducting Academy 2014 with teachers N.Jarvi, L.Grin,G. Roshdetnevsky.
In 2011 he has been chosen to conduct in the Memory Concert/masterclass of Maestro Ferrara (Accademia Chiggiana). As a conductor he has worked during the studies with orchestras such as Luzerner Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian State Philharmonic, Hochschüler orchestra HKb(bern), Sofia Festival Philharmonic, Arabesque young symphony Orchetsra, Berlin Chamber Orchestra, National Constanta Opera, Budapest Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra de Cadaques, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, Orchestra il Pommerigi di Milano.
At the age of 19 he has been the youngest member of the Symphony orchestra Basel. In 1999 he won the first prize of the National String Competition of the Greek Cultural Minister. In Athens 2005 he won the IKY Competition for the National Scholarship Foundation, in 2008 a Studienpreis from the LYRA Organisation (Zürich) and a Prize from the Onassis Foundation (Athens), Hirschmannn prize 2010,Accademia Chiggiana Scolarship (2011) etc. 2012 he won the Third prize with the JSO Orchester Arabesque in the National Suisse Young Orchester Competition organized by Valliant. November 2012 he won the first prize of the Black Sea International conducting competition and became as a prize of the competition guest conductor of the Constanta’s National Opera Orchestra.
Georgios Balatsinos has participated in many masterclasses given from such world renowned arts as Shmuel Ashkenazy, Manahem Pressler, Sandor Devich, Andras Keller, Christian Frohn, Klaus Huber (composition) etc. He has been invited as well in many music festivals such as the Trenta International Music Forum (Wiener Philharmoniker) or the Zeistermusicdays. Recently he has given chamber music recitals in Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Greece and Spain. Since 2010 he is a member of the Plawner Quartet which whom he had the chance to perform with pianist Ewa Kupiec in the Prag Spring Festival 2010, the Dresdner Festspiel, Moritzburg, as well as in various other important festivals in Europe.
Orchestral experience includes the Basler Sinfonieorchester (Younger Member in the age of 19 ,2003-2007), Ochestra do Norto (Solo-Viola), Chamber Orchestra of Lissabon(Solo-Viola ), Belgische Kammerphilarmonie( Solo Viola ). As a member of the orchestra he has played under the direction of conductors such as A. Jordan, A. Boreyko, M. Minkowsky, V. Gergiev, M. Janowsky, G. Takacs ,N.Santi , Y Termikanov.
As a soloist he has performed with the Berner Symphonie Orchester (June 09 Bartok Concerto), The Solistes de Genève, Orchestra do Nord Portugal, Hochschule Orchestra Bern, etc.
For TV and radio he has made live recordings in Greece, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic and in Switzerland.
